The founder of our company, Thomas J. Sheehan, started in the insurance business in Savannah in 1956. He worked with Atlantic Mutual before becoming a partner in the John Peters Agency. This agency became Dixon, Sheehan & Titus, which was a mainstay in the insurance industry for many years. Mr. Sheehan was the President of this agency until its merger with Hilb, Rogal and Hamilton, where he was C.O.O. of the Savannah operation. In 1996, Mr. Sheehan and his son-in-law, James C. Hamrick, left HRH to form Thomas J. Sheehan Insurance, Inc. Throughout his career Mr. Sheehan expressed a strong commitment to the Independent Insurance Agency business. He felt that the service, expertise and attention provided by Independent Agents are vital to the insurance industry and the local community.
Mr. Sheehan passed away on March 17th, 2010 after a brief illness. His commitment to his family, his community and his industry was evident in everything that he touched. His legacy lives on in the successful agency that he founded.
